Home Schooling Methods & Language Learning

Home-schooling languages can be fun!

With more and more reasons to home-school, more and more parents around the world are deciding to take on the challenge and so if you are among that group, we take our hats off to you!

We have to admit that we don't have children ourselves and so have no practical experience when it comes to home-schooling methods or the challenges that home-schooling one's children presents. However, we do have experience teaching other people's children, both on a one-on-one basis at home, and in the classroom. So we do hope that the advice we venture to provide will be found to be both useful and fun to put into practice, for both you and your kids!

We have already provided some advice within the Flash Cards and Videos section of our website, which is completely applicable within the home-schooling atmosphere. Of course, you probably have a set curriculum which determines what you need to teach your child and in what amount of time. Home-schooling guidelines also will vary depending on what country you live in, so we will not venture to adapt our advice regarding flash cards or use of videos to any particular government-approved courses.

However, a little time and preparation is all that will be needed in order to find the flash cards or videos that will help you to convey the appropriate content as dictated by the curriculum that you are following.

Meanwhile, we have actually done quite abit of work to create what we call "DVD-guides". These guides will help you to use a normal film to teach your child or children another language. Below you will find the list of movies (follow the ratings according to your own discrection) that we have created Language Learning guides for. You can also see where these Dvds are available from and what language options we have found them available in. Please click on the "View Dvd Guide" link, to view the contents of the Dvd Language Learning Guide for free. You may tailor the methods as you see fit, according to the level of your child's speaking ability and according to the curriculum you are following.
